Contest Officially Closed
We will plan on having the contest results posted on my blog sometime today (Sunday). Mom & I are really glad the Food Dude is the judge, because we couldn't possibly decide. You're all winners in our, um, book! Thank you all for entering; we've so enjoyed reading your posts!
Please note: If you have an entry in this contest, remember to add your contact info beneath said entry, i.e., your Catster page or blog url. Thanks!
There are no rules! It's a free-for-all!
No, no ... I'm just kidding. As this is the first contest I've held, I may make mistakes and changes may have to be instituted along the line, but for now, we'll just keep it simple.
The point is to write a short short story with no more than six words which relates to a cat or cats in some way, shape or form. Pearl C. Pritchard suggested this for a contest, and more information regarding this subject may be found at Wired Magazine. From perusing the net, I found where someone said the six word stories submitted were more like endings or beginnings, or even zen koans (a short story or sentence that initially seems paradoxical in nature) rather than "stories" so you might want to do a little research to see what makes an extremely short story like this "work."
According to legend, Hemingway considered a story he wrote with six words the best he'd ever written. The aforementioned story follows in its entirety: "For sale: baby shoes, never used."
Rules:
1) One entry per cat, although every cat in a multi-cat household may enter.
2) If you decide you don't like your entry or suddenly realize you've written a masterpiece after having posted something kinda yukky, you are welcome to come and change your story until the contest deadline is reached.
3) The contest deadline will be midnight on Saturday, January 20, 2007, USA Mountain Standard Time.
4) POST YOUR NAME IN THE TITLE BOX. Otherwise, we may not know who wrote the next best-seller. After your entry please add your contact information (blog url or Catster page).
5) I almost forgot! You can also use a picture to go along with your story.
6) You are also encouraged to comment on the entries (even if they might change)!
7) Since it's my contest, I can change the rules whenever I want to (thanks to Skeezix for the legal advice)!
This contest will be judged by my very own Fuddy-Duddy Food Dude, otherwise known as Daddy. He will not know whose story he is reading while he peruses the entries. (He used to edit a literary magazine back in what they call the 80's, so he seems the best choice we have.)
Prizes:
First place - a $25 sponsorship of a Best Friends Animal Sanctuary cat of your choice AND a toy called the "Tick Tock Teaser"
Second place - something called "Milo's Kitty Gift Box" with fun things inside it
Third place - your choice of a bag of "7th Heaven Organic Nip" or a bottle of "Incredibubbles"
If you have any questions, you can post them here, at my blog, or you can email me at luxor1@comcast.net.
Have fun!
Yr friend,
Lux
